Brian D. Cadieux - Chief Executive Officer, Partner
Brian Cadieux is an experienced senior executive with more than 20 years of management, business development, and partnership marketing experience in the payments industry. Prior to founding Alliance in 2000, Brian was a principal in a merchant banking partnership, serving on the board and as the senior executive of portfolio companies in the financial services, marketing, real estate, and agriculture fields.
Brian also served as a senior executive at The Kessler Group where he was responsible for partnership program new business development in the college and university and co-branded markets on behalf of financial institutions such as MBNA America, Household, and Fleet. He was also responsible for KFS' partnership insurance program in the university marketplace. Brian is a graduate of Babson College.
Jerry Coyne - Chief Operating Officer, Partner
Jerry Coyne has been a leader in the payments industry for more than 25 years. As a founding partner of Alliance in 2000, Jerry brings significant experience from his tenure as a senior executive at The Kessler Group where he was responsible for managing partnership program new business development on behalf of MBNA America and MBNA Canada Bank.
Prior to KFS, Jerry was a senior executive at First Data Resources, responsible for the business development and management of FDR's Boston, New York, and Baltimore business units. He began his professional career with Xerox. Jerry is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts.
Jeffrey M. Coppolo - Managing Director, Partner
Jeff Coppolo is one of three co-founders of Alliance Companies. As Managing Partner, he is responsible for general management and business development for the company. He brings to the firm a wealth of experience in the payments industry, spanning almost two decades. Prior to founding Alliance in 2000, he served as a senior executive at The Kessler Group and over the course of ten years was responsible for the establishment of more than 500 co-branded and affinity credit card partnerships on behalf of MBNA America and MBNA Canada Bank (now Bank of America).
Prior to his tenure in the payments industry, he served as an investment executive with Kidder, Peabody, Inc. in Boston (now UBS). Jeff is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
Walter R. Hess - Senior Strategic Advisor and Portfolio Analyst
Wally brings to Alliance over 35 years in the finance industry. He began his career at Bank of Boston, eventually heading the New England Commercial Banking Division. Wally left Bank of Boston to become CFO of a large real estate syndication company where he structured and assembled financing for office and residential partnerships. In the late 1980's Wally later became CFO of Kessler Financial Services (now The Kessler Group), where he financed and helped control its explosive growth with its partner and client, MBNA America Bank.
Subsequently, Wally co-founded a specialty direct mail company and an investment banking firm specializing in structured finance, both of which were later sold to larger organizations in their fields. In the latter company, he was responsible for structuring pools of auto loans and credit card receivables, and obtaining investment grade ratings from Standard and Poor's. Wally is a graduate of Bowdoin College and has an MBA degree from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
Jack Derby - Senior Strategic Advisor
As founder of Derby Management, Jack provides management consulting services in the areas of business strategy, sales effectiveness, financial planning and fundraising for emerging companies. He is a trusted advisor to the Alliance management team, offering keen insight and strategic direction that has helped the company grow.
Prior to forming Derby Management, Jack served as CEO of Mayer Electronics Corporation, President of CB Sports, President of Litton Industries Medical Systems, CEO of Datamedix Corporation and President of Becton Dickinson Medical Systems.
Named to Mass High Tech’s All Star Team, Jack is a frequent speaker at numerous business organizations including the MIT Enterprise Forum, the Small Business Association of New England, Harvard Business School, and the WPI Venture Forum. He is a lecturer at MIT where he teaches classes in business plan writing and marketing for undergraduate students and an adjunct professor at Tufts University’s School of Engineering where he teaches a course in Entrepreneurial Sales & Marketing.
Jack is an active board member in a number of emerging companies and has served as the Vice Chair of the Smaller Business Association of New England. In 2004 Jack was the recipient of SBANE’s Pro Bono Publico Award for his significant contributions to the entrepreneurial community.
Jack is a graduate of Boston College and has earned his MBA from the University of Chicago.
Jay Kurian - Managing Director - New Businesses Development
Jay Kurian has considerable experience in banking, business start ups, asset purchase, credit card consulting, product development, direct marketing and the development and management of consumer loan portfolios ranging from $100 million to over $5.2 billion dollars. He has worked extensively with financial institutions in the analysis of consumer loan portfolios and the strategic assessment of new business opportunities.
Prior to joining Alliance, Jay served as First Senior Vice President at Town North Bank and Founding Director and Chief Risk Officer of Town North Bank Nevada. Jay established the agent issuing program at Town North Bank (TNB Card Services) for credit unions and other financial institutions and was in charge of the P&L and Product Development for Credit and Debit Processing. Jay’s leadership further guided the expansion of Town North Bank with the chartering of Town North Bank Nevada and the building of a $300 million credit card portfolio.
Prior to TNB, Jay was Vice President and Director of U.S. Card Products for Banco Popular and helped launch the bank’s US mainland entry while ultimately growing the bank from $1.4 billion to $6.0 billion. He also held management positions at Signet Bank and AT&T.
Jay holds a BBA in accounting from the University of North Florida.
Angela C. Doherty - Managing Director, Advisory Services
Angela comes to Alliance with nearly 20 years of experience in product development and marketing for co-branded and affinity credit cards. During her career, Angela focused on credit card product development for Alliance Development Group, managed acquisition marketing with PNC Bank, and played a key role for Upromise in developing, negotiating, and launching their co-branded credit card program.
Most recently, Angela was the senior executive with The Kessler Group responsible for the Bank of America marketing relationship, for which she managed the direct marketing of more than 11,000 unique efforts annually. Angela is a graduate of Harvard University.
Michael P. Cebrick - Managing Director, Business Development - Alliance Financial Services
As the Managing Director of Business Development, Michael's primary focus is to work with credit unions in the development of successful credit and debit card programs. Michael has assisted hundreds of credit unions across the country enhance the performance of their card programs and form successful agent card partnerships.
Prior to joining Alliance, Michael served 13 years with MBNA America Bank (now Bank of America), where he held several management positions and worked exclusively on MBNA's new business and affinity card program initiatives. Michael was also a part of a senior management team that had a special focus on financial institution partnerships and the acquisition of credit card portfolios. His years of experience with financial institutions has enabled Michael to develop a deep knowledge of the banking industry and what it takes to create a successful credit card program. Michael is a graduate of the University of Delaware.
Ian Skane - Senior Director, Business Development - Alliance Card Services
Ian Skane brings more than ten years of business development experience to the Alliance Companies, the majority of which has been dedicated to building mutually beneficial co-branded and affinity card partnerships for clients of Alliance. Ian is credited with helping to facilitate a number of successful card partnerships, including Barnes & Noble, UBS, Jo-Ann Stores and Getty Petroleum.
Prior to his tenure in the credit card industry, Ian served as a business development executive at Fisher Scientific with responsibility for the healthcare segment in the Boston market. Ian is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts.
Bill Richins - Director, Business Development - Alliance Card Services
Bill brings more than 15 years of experience in the credit card and financial services industry to Alliance. He spent seven years as a Senior Marketing Officer and held various positions in marketing, business development, and management at MBNA America. He then moved to First USA as an Assistant Vice President, where he spent four years in account management and in sales. Prior to joining The Alliance Companies, he spent six years as the Director of Business Development at Collegiate Funding Services, SunTrust, and Graduate Leverage where he led sales and marketing efforts with associations and co-branded organizations. Bill holds a BS from the University of Delaware.
